Headlight Magic DIY Kit

Not included but recommended:
-
Spray bottle with water for rinsing,
-
Lint-free microfiber towel or paper towels for drying,
-
Blue painter's tape to protect the bumper and fender.
Step 1: Prep The Lens
-
If you’re new to sanding or want to protect your vehicle’s paint, apply blue painter’s tape around the edges of the headlight.
Step 2: Apply Liquid Sandpaper
-
Pour Liquid Sandpaper onto a magic eraser sponge.
-
Dab the sponge onto the headlight lens. The solution will foam and turn brown as it lifts oxidation.
Step 3: Sand The Lens
Start with 1000-Grit Sandpaper
-
Sand the headlight using very heavy pressure.
-
Use vertical or horizontal strokes only—do not sand in circular motions.
-
After sanding the entire lens, rinse with water and check for smoothness.
If the Lens Feels Rough
-
Sand again using 800-grit sandpaper.
-
Follow with another pass using 1000-grit, then check for smoothness.
-
If the lens is still not smooth, restart the process in this order:
-
600 → 800 → 1000 → 2000 → 3000 grit sandpapers.
If the Lens Feels Smooth After 1000-Grit
-
Proceed with 2000-grit, then finish with 3000-grit sandpaper.
-
Sand the lens twice with the 3000-grit for maximum clarity.
Final Tip
-
The more you sand, the clearer and smoother the lens will become.
-
The lens should feel very smooth to the touch before applying any UV treatment.
Step 4: Clean & Dry The Lens
-
Use water or glass cleaner to thoroughly clean the headlight lens.
-
Dry completely with a clean towel.
-
Make sure there is no moisture trapped between the bumper and fenders.
Step 5: Apply UV Coating
Prepare the Coating & Applicator
-
Shake the Stay Clear bottle thoroughly.
-
Fold the applicator pad into fourths.
-
Apply four very heavy strips of coating directly onto the pad.
Apply to the Lens
-
Start by coating the edges of the headlight. Apply a very heavy coat. It should almost dripping down the lens.
-
Use slow, overlapping strokes to cover the entire lens evenly.
-
Smooth out any runs or bubbles immediately.
-
Fix Any Mistakes
-
If needed, rinse the lens with water, dry it completely, and reapply the coating.
Step 6: Drying Instructions
-
Allow the lens to air dry for 25–45 minutes.
Speed Up with Heat
-
Use a hairdryer or heat gun on low, held 3 inches away, for 3 minutes.
-
Avoid using direct or high heat.
Aftercare
-
Keep the lens completely dry for at least 30 minutes.
-
Do not wash the vehicle for 24 hours after application
